Frank Thomas was born and raised in South Africa, the son of a mining engineer. In 1963 he sailed from the Indian Ocean across the Atlantic and onto the United States aboard his 25-foot sailboat. His stories of this trip are exciting--particularly when he tells of his personal encounter with “The Perfect Storm”.

Moving from boats to birdies, Frank:
· Invented the graphite shaft
· Spent 26 years as USGA Technical Director protecting the game of golf from equipment advances.
· Introduced the Stimpmeter
· Directed the development of today’s Handicap system.

Today, Frank is Golf Digest’s Chief Technical Advisor and is President of Frankly Golf a consulting and golf products company, dedicated to helping golfers realize their potential.
