Fit For A Frog
I would like to help you with the fitting process to make sure you have the correct length Frog.
Please follow the steps below:
- Address the ball as if you are about to make a putt (your spine should be about 45 degrees to the vertical).
- Your feet should be about 12 to 18 inches apart.
- The ball should be slightly forward (toward the hole) of center between your feet.
- The ball must also be directly below your eyes (to determine if this is correct, drop a ball from you nose when you are in your address position and where it lands on the putting surface will be the correct ball position).
- Do not lean forward to get your eyes over the ball but move you whole body closer to the ball to get the ball directly under your eyes.
- With the ball in this position, place the club head directly behind the ball (you may want someone to help you hold the club in this position) and take your hands off the grip.
- Now relax your arms and let them hang straight down from your shoulders, then bring your hands together.
- Ask the person helping you to move the putter grip to between your hands (with the putter head directly behind the ball). Where your hands and the putter grip meet is the correct position on the putter grip.
- During this procedure – when your helper moves the putter into position -- don’t be tempted to grip the putter at the end of the grip as we are trying to establish the correct grip position.
- Now that you have made your normal putting grip on the putter in the correct position on the grip, with your arms relatively straight but in a relaxed state (with the ball positioned correctly) you should have no more than ¼ to ½ inch of the putter grip above the heel of your upper hand.
I am 6’2” and use a 34 inch putter when fitting myself according to the above procedure. A number of male golfers on tour are using 33 to 34 inch putters. Tour golfers have found that a shorter putter will promote relaxation in their relatively straight arms allowing them to make a more rhythmic pendulum like stroke.
Once you have gone through the fitting procedure above give us a call and let us know what you find 407 396 4004. We will do what needs to be done to make sure you are fitted correctly.
Best wishes
Frank
